Who we are — the people behind MedXchange Africa.

A non-profit medical exchange based in Cape Coast, led on the ground by people who live here. We welcome you, place you and look out for you throughout your stay — together with our partners across the central coast.

01Our mission

A simple idea: medicine is best learned in exchange — between visitors and the clinicians who lead the way.

MedXchange Africa is a non-profit that exists to make that exchange possible, safe and dignified: matching health-science students worldwide to supervised rotations and community work in coastal Ghana, and making sure local expertise is centred at every step. Not aid, not voluntourism — a genuine, two-way exchange where Ghanaian clinicians are the experts and leaders, and students learn alongside them, within their scope and always supervised.

Fields span medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, physiotherapy and allied and public health — completed as a Famulatur, PJ tertial or elective, over a duration that suits you. There are no organization fees.

02About Ghana

A welcoming home base, with deep ties to Germany.

Ghana has a long and warm connection with Germany, and English is the official language — so settling in is easier than many expect. It is widely regarded as one of the safest countries in Africa, with a culture known for its hospitality.

The landscapes are remarkably diverse: the Atlantic coast, dense rainforest and open savanna are all within reach. From Cape Coast you can travel by TroTro minibus to Accra, Kumasi and Busua, and explore everyday life from the markets of the capital to the quiet of the shoreline.
